Human nature and the sciences. Current challenges in a Franco-German perspective

The conference opened with a talk held by the neuro-biologist, Professor Dr. Michel Imbert (École Normale Supérieure Paris) on the modern image-forming procedures of the neurosciences. Through this method it is also possible to examine moral attitudes and modes of behaviour. A discussion is said to be developing on the manner in which the neurosciences are applying moral concepts – for example the concepts of “forming moral judgement” and “free will”, among others.
